POSITION SUMMARY
Stratton Adventure Camp Counselors spend their day exploring the mountain with our 3-6 year old day campers. Counselors are responsible for the care, entertainment, and supervision of assigned group. There are both full-time and part-time seasonal openings for this role. The pay rate for this role is $20/hr.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provides a positive and encouraging camp environment
Must be willing to ensure a safe and compliant environment for children; follow designated protocol for reporting unsafe conditions
Must be able to walk, hike, sit and stand for extended periods as each specific activity requires
Plan, organize, and implement nature-based activities for campers
Maintain daily records on participants
Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing needs of children
Must be comfortable supervising swimming and other water activities
Promote resort principles and guest service philosophy
Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, campers, and parents
Maintenance of camp spaces - preparing, cleaning and organizing before, during, and after the camp day
Be nimble and resourceful, while keeping campers happy and safe, and adjust the schedule as needed for engagement or weather-related reasons
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma required.
Experience: Experience working with and understanding the needs of children under the age of 5 preferred. Previous experience with an outdoor education program a plus. Minimum age 18 required.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of child development, theories, and practices, including safe and appropriate activities for children is beneficial.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Must be able to lift 40 (forty) pounds, on a regular and repeating basis
Must be able to perform during the day without scheduled breaks
Must be able to handle high noise levels and stressful environments
Must be able to work outdoors, in varying weather & environmental conditions
